The Contemporary Arts Centre was opened back in 1968. First, a Paintings Exhibition Hall functioned in the ensemble designed by an architect Vytautas Čekanauskas. In 1992 the institution changed its name and became the Contemporary Arts Center.

In this Center the retrospectives of the most famous local and international artists are organized, but its main activity is to present the latest trends in international arts. 60 thousand people visit the Centre events every year. Many projects of the Center are accompanied by special publications. In two stories of the Center you can see five exhibition halls, there is a yard beside it and a conference hall on the second floor. It is not only an arts Center, but also a popular meeting place in Vilnius.

You can find a café here, which is frequented by colourful and Bohemian youth of Vilnius.
